Get to know a grad - noah m.!

Get To Know A Grad! Noah is known throughout the Walden world for being a ring leader both inside the classroom and out on the field! He is a fan of all Philadelphia teams (esp. the Phillies) and would love to play baseball professionally one day. If that doesn't work out, Noah says that since debating in Government class is his favorite activity, he'll probably become a politician! Noah will put his academic and athletic skills to great use when he travels to St. Joe's Prep this fall and then has big plans to travel even further to bella Italia "as soon as possible!" Some of Noah's fondest memories at Walden include hanging with his friends (makes sense) and playing tackle football in the snow (makes maybe not as much sense ;) When asked to describe his time here in 3 words? "Challenging, Journeying, and Everlasting." We can't wait to hear how you rise to the challenges on your next big journey Noah...you'll meet every one and the stories themselves will be everlasting!

Get to know a grad - emily F!

Get To Know A Grad! Emily has been steeped in the Walden philosophy since 1st grade and it shows! She is an avid reader (fav book is Fahrenheit 451) artist (drawing is her spare-time passion) and an accomplished violinist, with future plans to play in an orchestra! This renaissance girl also loves to ride her bike, and counts “getting James out” during dodgeball as one of her proudest moments :) Emily has a bunny named Baxter, loves sushi from Bluefin and can’t quite decide whether Venice or her bedroom is her #1 “happy place.” Emily will participate in Upper Darby High School’s lauded music program this fall, where she’s sure to excel all-around, and when asked who she admires most? “My Walden friends, because they’re really funny and know how to make me feel good.” And that makes us feel good. We'll miss you Emily, and can't wait to see your star shine bright!

Get to know a grad - Sasha W!

Get To Know A Grad! If you couldn't tell from his tee, Sasha is Walden's resident Flyers fan! When he isn't on the ice himself, Sash enjoys spending time with his family, his pups Julius and Cubbie, and playing the occasional video game :) He loves doing math ALMOST as much as a burger and shake from Shake Shack, which will come in handy when Sash attends Delaware Valley Friends in the fall! Sash would like to visit Greece one day, and has big plans to become a radio announcer. What he'll miss most about Walden? His friends of course. Sash describes Walden as "loving, fantastic and kind", and we would say the same of him in return. Best of luck Sash, we'll miss you!

Get to know a grad - Fritz N.!

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” - Wayne Gretzky/Michael Scott
How fitting! From taking the playground by storm as a tiny preschooler to taking the basketball court by storm as a strong 8th grader, this Walden “lifer” has been energetically and positively taking 100% of the shots available all along.
You’ll know Fritz as the other guy on drums pictured smiling alongside buddy Max in the Walden “hall of fame'" and when he’s not channeling drummer Daniel Platzman of Imagine Dragons, he’s diligently completing the work required during this very different 8th grade year. Fritz is an avid fan of the Philadelphia Flyers, and unsurprisingly loved playing hockey in gym. Of course dodge ball, like for his classmates, ranked pretty high too :) His favorite actor is Adam Sandler, his favorite book is Countdown, and “Best In Philly” Lorenzo’s is the place you’ll find Fritz enjoying his favorite slice.
Strath Haven HS will be happy to have Fritz as an incoming freshman this fall, and what he calls the “peaceful, supportive environment of Walden” will indeed help him be confident and successful while there. The 3 words Fritz uses to describe his time here at Walden? "Entertaining, Accomplished, and Fun." Interesting...those are exactly the words we’d use to describe this wonderful young man himself. Keep taking 100% of the shots and taking the world by storm Fritz, we can’t wait to watch it happen...

Get to know a grad - Julia B.!

Julia has been brightening Walden's hallways and classrooms for 10 years! She's into Indie bands Ruel and Rex Orange County, and the acting talents of Cole Sprouse. History was one of Julia's most interesting subjects, and learning to play the marimbas, which was proudly displayed at beloved Walden concerts, was her coolest special project. She finds herself drawn to painting over Netfilx these days, and her fave pizza fix? Renato's in Swarthmore! It comes as no surprise that dodgeball was a gym favorite (like her classmates) and Julia developed some great court skills playing for the BB team this year. Her happiest moments are spent napping on the beach with her family, listening to her "beach playlist" and hopes to get back there very soon. Julia will always remember being greeted in the morning at Walden, getting to go to the office for a break when needed, and all the wonderful people she met while here. The three words to describe her time? Adventurous, Enjoyable and Memorable. Best of luck at Strath Haven High School Julia!

Get to know a grad - Max G.!

You might recognize Max from the canvas print featuring him and buddy Fritz on drums in Walden's main hall. Max joined the Walden family in middle school, but quickly felt right at home. In his free time he loves rooting for the home team - FLY EAGLES FLY! - enjoying an authentic pie from Lorenzo's, and watching Jim and Dwight battle it out on The Office! He also might be able to quote more than a few Keanu Reeves movies. Science exercises his brain the most this year, Countdown was his favorite read, and yes, dodge ball is his gym game of choice. Max will miss the kindness of the faculty and friends at Walden most, and describes his time here as "safe, entertaining, and flawless." Next stop on the exciting educational journey for Max? Friend's Central!

Get To Know A Grad - Hailey K.!

Hailey is excited to attend Downingtown East High School as a freshman! Hailey is inspired every day by the music of Mariah Carey, aka 'The Songbird Supreme,' who is her favorite artist. Her favorite book is Countdown, and while she finds math to be her most challenging subject, it's also very rewarding. Some of her best memories at Walden include singing All I Want For Christmas (Mariah Carey of course :) at the holiday concert, and going to Bear Creek with her class. Hailey also remembers bringing little plastic hippos to school in her backpack when she was younger, and although she absolutely LOVES wearing hippo slippers now, she'd never wear them to school. Hailey's happiest moments are vacationing with her entire family, and listening to...you guessed it...Mariah Carey! She feels completely at home at Walden because everyone is so kind, and the three words Hailey uses to describe her time here? "Peaceful, spirited, and memorable."
