Why Walden
At Walden, your child will be known, valued, loved, and challenged. What could matter more?Since 1967, The Walden School has been a sanctuary of sorts—
where students are challenged with individual instruction, small and whole group lessons, independent work, and self-directed activities, all while working closely with their peers.
Influenced by Dr. Maria Montessori's teaching philosophy, our programming places an emphasis on personal discovery, independent learning, and creating a peaceful and respectful environment for all aspects of a child’s academic, social, and emotional development.
Walden’s low student-to-teacher ratio coupled with our mixed-age classrooms enables educators to get to know each student’s strengths and preferred learning styles; educators will know precisely how and when to offer the instruction a student needs to flourish. This guidance-based culture helps students adapt as they progress.
Walden graduates move on as confident students to middle and high schools such as Episcopal Academy, The Haverford School, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, Devon Prep, Merion Mercy Academy, Friends Central School, and area public schools
