Extended Day
Walden’s Extended Day Program offers more than additional care after school hours. Extended Day provides a welcoming extension of the school day in a relaxed, engaging environment where children can unwind. Open to all enrolled students, the program gives children extra time to interact with friends from different classrooms, enjoy unstructured play, and choose from a variety of toys and activities that spark their interests.
Extended Day is available before school from 7:30–8:30 a.m. and after school from 3:00–5:30 p.m., offering families flexible scheduling while providing students with a comfortable, supportive space to spend their time.
A Relaxed and Social Setting
Children enjoy a balance of free choice and guided activities, with plenty of opportunities to play, create, and spend time together. Our elementary students also have dedicated quiet time in the library each day for homework, independent reading, and focused study. Options may also include arts and crafts, music, movement, games, and outdoor play. When the weather allows, we spend as much time outside as possible on the playground!
The program encourages social connection across age groups, helping students build friendships while engaging in activities they enjoy. A light snack is provided each day, and families are welcome to pack additional food in their child’s bookbag if desired.
Enrichment Beyond Extended Day
Throughout the year, Walden also offers a variety of optional after-school enrichment programs, giving students even more opportunities to explore new interests and skills. Offerings may include Walden Athletic Clubs, Zumbini, Foreign Language programs, Science Clubs, and Craft Clubs, with options rotating seasonally. These programs are offered to families to register in the fall, early winter, and spring.
