In kindergarten and grades 1-4, physical education begins with a focus on plyometrics and the differences between a jog, gallop, stride and sprint. Students complete partner reflex work, drills, and cooperative games using the parachute. Throughout the year, students learn the fundamentals of soccer, baseball and kickball, and basketball. Students also develop understanding of skills in fitness, flexibility and cardiovascular strength. They enjoy the exercise and work consistently on demonstrating sportsmanlike conduct.
In grades 5-8, students refresh their understanding and demonstration of fitness, flexibility, and cardiovascular strength. They continue to enjoy playing sports such as soccer and basketball and focus on drills to improve their skills in these sports. Demonstration of personal best and sportsmanlike conduct make the physical education program a great deal of fun for the students.
