Community Service

Community Service

Community Service is an integral part of the Walden education.  Students at The Walden School embrace service as they grow to understand the intrinsic rewards of giving and helping within a community of caring. The students’ joy in service is easily perceived in many ways: it is the environment we foster of having students simply reach out to a classmate, it is a child offering a helping hand to a teacher or friend, or the student council cooking breakfast for the entire school and serving their fellow students.  The spirit of kindness is evident in daily interactions at The Walden School.

Holiday Outreach: Students and their families generously contributed new toys to the Holiday Toy Drive to help meet the needs of many of the 3,000 children through the organization City Team.

MLK Day of Service 2016: The Walden School honored Martin Luther King with a school-wide service project by creating 150 bagged lunches which including personalized messages.  The lunches were delivered to City Team in Chester.

Hope Cafe' at CityTeam Chester: several of our students volunteer year round at this restaurant-style approach to feeding our local needy. Our classes also visit to sort canned and boxed food items essential to the daily operation of this organization.
