Back to School Night
Thank you to all the parents who were able to join us for the Back to School Night/ Parent Social! Teachers were enthusiastic to share the plans for the exciting year to come, and parents were delighted by the personalized projects the children had produced and displayed for their perusal.
International Day of Peace 2017
Walden proudly participates in The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") which is observed around the world each year on September 21st. The children of The Walden School celebrated this special day by creating a mural of a dove made with the handprints of all the students. (This one of a kind piece of art is available for viewing downstairs between Room 6 and Room 9.) Once the mural was completed, we all gathered on the front lawn to sing “Peace is the World Smiling”
Celebrating our Opening Day: September 18, 1967
Founder Mary LeFever, along with Head of School Mary McKeon and longtime teacher Toni McIntosh, greeted each of the Walden classes today on our OFFICIAL 50th Birthday with a story and an apple. Mrs. LeFever told the classes of the many teachers and parents who have contributed over the years to The Walden School, and thanked the students for their involvement in the community. They then commemorated the occasion with each child receiving a McIntosh apple, chosen for the McIntosh family who has been at Walden for 47 years!
As Mrs. LeFever said to the students today, it is truly the children who are the peacemakers of today and the future. Walden is proud to continue this legacy of conflict resolution and peaceful living.
